China’s first Green Commercial Bank plan passed expert review, SynTao Green Finance participated in drafting the plan
On 16th May, an expert review meeting of Datong Green Commercial Bank (DGCB) plan was held in Beijing.The strategic position of DGCB is green bank, whose first targeted investment industries will include the energy efficiency improvement of coal power plants, photovoltaic power generation, ecological agriculture, river restoration etc. The review meeting was co-organized by the Datong Financial Service Office, Zhongguancun Xinhua New Energy Industry Research Institute and SynTao Green Finance. SynTao Green Finance drafted the plan with references of UK Green Investment Bank’s successful experiences and consideration of Datong’s nature of practice. Read More

China’s Xi promises green ‘Belt and Road’ investment strategy (Climate Home: May 15, 2017)
At summit with 29 government leaders in Beijing, China’s president Xi Jinping proposed an “international coalition for green development”, addressing that China will seize opportunities for clean energy and boost science cooperation through its overseas investment strategy.

China ready to address issues related to implementation of Paris Agreement (Xinhua: May 23, 2017)
China's Special Representative on Climate Change Xie Zhenhua said, on the 2017 Petersberg Climate Dialogue in Germany, that China is preparing to address the issues related to the implementation of the Paris Agreement to push forward global climate governance.

China mulls setting up Belt and Road green development fund (Xinhua: May 31, 2017)
According to the official plan released by The Ministry of Environmental Protection, China should explore the establishment of a fund to support green development along the Belt and Road, for which efforts will also be made to set up special funds for resource exploitation and environmental protection.

Four local banks to issue ‘green bonds’ in first for Taiwan (Taipei Times: May 19, 2017)
Four local banks issued “green” bonds for the first time in Taiwan, aiming at showing corporate responsibility with regard to environmental protection, with the proceeds going toward funding environmental friendly projects.

China Longyuan issues CNY-2bn green bond (Renewables Now: May 23, 2017)
China Longyuan Power Group Corp Ltd issued a five-year term, CNY-2-billion green bond. The proceeds will go for project investment and construction, and repayment of bank borrowings for China Longyuan projects.

China requires large banks to set up inclusive finance divisions in 2017 (Xinhua: May 4, 2017)
China’s large commercial banks have been asked to set up inclusive finance departments to support small companies, agriculture, poverty relief and entrepreneurship before the end of 2017.

Stated-owned enterprises (SOE) governance to be better  (Xinhua: May 4, 2017)
A guideline on corporate governance structure at SOE was released to clarify relations between investors, the board of directors, managers and the board of supervisors at SOEs, with detailed clarifications of their obligations and responsibilities.

London calling: green finance, belt and road the latest China business push (South China Morning Post: May 7, 2017)
London is gearing up to promote its green financial offerings to Chinese companies involved in the flagship “One Belt, One Road” economic development initiative, as well as projects needing funds to combat pollution in the mainland.
